FAQ

Where is my data?

On your device. Only if you switch on iCloud sync in Settings is it also stored in your own iCloud. Details in the privacy policy.

How do I get a class list into the app?

Photograph the list (camera button in Import), send an Excel, Numbers or CSV file to Group-O-Mat via "Open in", or simply type or paste names, one per line.

How do rules work?

In the Rules menu: two or more people "together", "apart" or in a fixed team. Rules apply on every shuffle; the balance report shows whether everything was met.

Widgets show no lists

Open the app once; after that the widgets know your lists. Long-press the widget to choose the list.

Backup and moving to a new device

Menu → Backup → Export creates a file with all lists, rules, events, themes and settings. Open the file on the new device and choose Restore. Alternatively switch on iCloud sync on both devices.

Is the app allowed in schools?

The app processes pupils' names only locally or in the teacher's own iCloud, never with the developer. Whether pupil data may be kept on personal devices or in iCloud is a decision for your school and its data protection officer; sync is therefore off by default.
